在看管所，莫焕晶给林生斌写了一封信，字数不到200字：　“真的很对不起，你们对我这么好，我却做出这样的事，我真的不想害他们母子几个的，晓得他们几个归天今后，我真的后悔万分，都是赌博害了我，都怪我一时鬼摸脑壳，做出这样工作，真是天理难容，我在看管所里天天都驰念他们，天天过活于（如）年，想起了我们相处的那末愉快，现在又阴阳两隔，真是罪不容诛，假如我死了能让你好过一点，我真的愿意立即去死，请望你多珍重，人生的路还很长，一定要珍重身材，真的很对不起。”（封面消息）
